Downtown Dallas deck park Klyde Warren Park will expand with a double-story glass and steel pavilion, terrace, and skating rink.

The expansion, which comes 14 years after the park's debut in 2012, will be nearly two acres to the west toward Field Street, covering the final recessed portion of the freeway.

The pavilion building will cater more to adults 20-40, according to Axios Dallas. It will include approximately 24,000 square feet of climate-controlled event and reception space across two levels, along with an 8,000-square-foot rooftop terrace overlooking the city.

The Jacobs Lawn, a 37,000-square-foot multi-use outdoor venue designed to host festivals, markets, performances, and civic gatherings that help define a great city. During the winter months, the lawn will transform into an ice-skating rink, and there will be other exciting programming planned throughout the year.

The expansion is estimated to cost $96–$111 million to construct and another $80 million for the added amenities. According to Axios, funding will come from The City of Dallas, North Central Texas Council of Governments, the Regional Transportation Council, Dallas County, a public improvement district and private donors.

News of this expansion follows closely behind the unveiling of Dallas' latest deck park, Halperin Park, in Oak Cliff. It's yet another multi-phase project that's only in the first phase right now.

Construction is scheduled to start later this year and take around two years to complete. The park will span 7.1 acres when the project is done.

The engineering and design process has been led by Jacobs in collaboration with HKS, and Gensler, alongside invaluable public partners including the City of Dallas, TxDOT, and the North Central Texas Council of Governments.
