A Taste of Yardbird Dallas

Recently, I tried the restaurant Yardbird Dallas. It's an upscale Southern-fried chicken restaurant in Downtown Dallas right across from Klyde Warren Park.
A former coworker had invited me to her birthday party being held there, and I accepted the invitation. Besides, I'm a foodie always on the hunt for foods and places I have yet to try. Plus, she's a cool person.
I wasn't sure what exactly to expect from the menu offerings, which I'd examined 3 times ahead of time. It looked good, even though it was limited. I was leaning toward the lobster mac & cheese and bourbon blackberry lemonade, but what I actually ordered was completely different.
My order was the Llewellyn's Fine Fried Chicken, a side of mac & cheese, and the watermelon sling drink. Once the food arrived, (chicken for all of us) it was piping hot, much to my surprise. Not used to piping hot food at restaurants these days.

Taking a bite in, the chicken had a light crisp and was tender and juicy. It wasn't greasy, either. Though it came with hot sauce to add as needed, it didn't really need it. Definitely so delicious chicken. As for the mac & cheese, it had a bread crumb top and parsley flakes and was very cheesy— but it was alright. It wasn't amazing nor the best I've ever had, but still made for a good complement to the chicken.
The drink, watermelon sling, was definitely interesting. Came off a bit unexpected with that earthy taste from the rosemary, and the watermelon flavor was light. It was refreshing and crisp, though.
As for the atmosphere, it was warm and romantic. Lots of browns and warm golden glows.
