Electric Shuffle, the shuffleboard bar and group entertainment hub, recently launched two new games called Studio 21 and The Edge. The games are part of the celebration of the inaugural Global Shuffle Day, which took place on July 25.
Dallas actually has a location right here in Deep Ellum, which is where we had a chance to experience the games first hand. It was a fun time for us, especially as we tried overthorwing the main scorer.
Studio 21 and The Edge are the first new games introduced since Electric Shuffle’s launch in 2021, expanding the roster from four games to six. Both games are all-play, where players play against the whole team competing for the highest score or most coverage on the board.
The four classic games are head-to-head play, which featured players competing in rounds against each other in pairs of two in our group of four.
The Edge is a precision challenge where every inch matters. Players throw four consecutive pucks, aiming to finish as close to the edge of the table as possible without going over. Throw too hard and your puck (and your points) are gone.
Studio 21 brings blackjack-inspired strategy to shuffleboard. Players race to land on exactly 21 points in as few turns as possible. If you go over, players are sent back to their previous score. The first player to hit exactly 21 wins.
Our favorites were The Edge and the Eclipse, which required us to get closest to the black circle in the middle of the board. Game play was simple enough, especially with instructional videos and details from the managers on how to best slide the pucks.
As for drinks, we got to enjoy their selection of classic margaritas, palomas, watermelon mojitos, and more. Our bites included the Korean fried chicken sliders, truffle parmesan fries, BBQ chicken bacon ranch pizza, and steak & roasted tomato skewers, which each paired well with fueling up between rounds.
To celebrate the launch of Global Shuffle Day on July 25, visitors enjoyed 2-For-1 margaritas all day long (a nod to Studio 21's winning number), and competed for exclusive merch and prizes.
Shuffleboard is currently ranked the world’s 57th most popular sport, according to a release.
