Local business owners met in South Dallas this week for guidance on how to prepare for economic opportunities tied to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, an international event expected to bring tens of thousands of visitors to Dallas during a 39-day period.

The session was hosted by consultant and strategist Tracy Lewis of Lewis & Associates. A four-member panel provided guidance across marketing, operations, workforce development, and access to capital.

Speakers included Ericka Hatfield, MBA, founder of Hats Off Consulting; Courtney Kelly, MBA, PE, author and owner of Courtney Kelly Books; Shaylon Scott, Executive Director of Founders First CDC; and Tiffanie Willis, M.Ed, representing the City of Dallas. Panelists discussed tools available to small businesses, including online platforms for procurement and resources for staffing and training.

Lewis encouraged business owners to evaluate their financial and operational capacity in advance of increased visitor volume.

“You better potentially have 100,000 people at your doorstep,” Lewis said. “Don’t think you can do that by yourself.”

South Dallas resident artist Derrick Walker encouraged attendees to center their planning on services visitors are most likely to need.

“As it relates to your consideration for businesses and opportunities, think about the basic human needs — travel, food, hospitality, and shelter,” Walker said. “Register and prepare yourself to sign up for Uber. If you’re from here, you know these streets better than everybody else.”

Noelle LeVeaux, Chief Marketing Officer for Dallas FWC 26, directed attendees to North Texas Business Connect, a portal where FIFA and partner organizations post requests for proposals and information.

“Once you register there, you will receive direct information in regard to RFPs and RFIs that are coming out,” LeVeaux said, noting that the system will continue to be used beyond the World Cup.

Additional training sessions and informational events are expected as Dallas continues preparations for the 2026 tournament.
