Welp, looks like the Dallas Mavericks' Nico Harrison is out.

Dallas Mavericks Governor Patrick Dumont announced today that the organization has relieved Nico Harrison of his role as general manager and president of basketball operations, effective immediately.

The Mavericks named Harrison general manager and president of basketball operations on June 28, 2021.

According to a release, the Mavericks have appointed Michael Finley and Matt Riccardi as co-interim general managers to oversee basketball operations. A comprehensive search will begin for a permanent replacement.

“This decision reflects our continued commitment to building a championship-caliber organization, one that delivers for our players, our partners, and most importantly, our fans,” said Dumont in a statement.

Finley, a 15-season NBA veteran and two-time All-Star, joined the Dallas Mavericks’ front office in 2017 after a standout playing career from 1996–2005. In the Mavericks front office, Finley has held roles including assistant vice president of basketball operations, vice president of player personnel and assistant general manager.

Riccardi joined the Mavericks in August 2022, bringing over a decade of front-office experience from the Brooklyn Nets system. He was promoted to assistant general manager in August 2023.

In Harrison's first season with the team, the Mavericks posted a 52-30 record and advanced to the Western Conference Finals during the 2021-22 season. Dallas reached the NBA Finals during the 2023-24 season, their first Finals appearance since their 2011 championship season.

Governor Patrick Dumont has also shared a letter with Mavericks fans addressing today’s announcement. Read it right here.
