When it comes to food options in Dallas, the possibilities seem to be growing everyday.

There's one place in particular that made its Dallas debut a last year, and its specialty is fast-casual but authentic pasta. It's called Due' Cucina, and it's located in East Dallas in the Lakewood Shopping Center.

It's a build-your-own bowl concept. So you start with the pasta noodle you want, then the sauce, then you can add on other toppings or meat. They also offer sides and apps, such as salads and bruschetta. I ordered the mushroom and white truffle oil with campanelle pasta and homemade pork sausage, as recommended, plus a Mediterranean side salad.

The first thing you notice when the dish arrives is its aromatic allure — the earthy scent of mushrooms mingling with the scent of white truffle oil. The creamy sauce is indulgent yet balanced, not too heavy. Pecorino Romano adds just the right touch of salty richness, enhancing the dish without overpowering the delicate truffle notes.

But the addition of homemade pork sausage takes this dish to another level. The sausage offers a subtle spiciness and a savory depth that pairs well with the creaminess of the sauce. Its tender, juicy texture contrasts wonderfully with the hearty mushrooms, creating a harmonious blend of flavors and textures in every bite.

The restaurant’s atmosphere is a blend of modern and casual, with sleek furnishings and a laid-back vibe that makes it perfect for a date night or a relaxed dinner with friends.

Friendly service and attention to detail add to the inviting environment, which made me feel right at home.
